Stephan Picard

Stephan Picard was born in Barcelona (Spain) into a German-French family. Moving back to Germany, he began violin lessons at the age of 9 and soon was studying with Saschko Gawriloff in Essen. Stefan Gheorghiu and Roman Nodel were his teachers in Bucharest (Roumania) and Mannheim (Germany).

In 1984 he won the International Maria Canals Violin Competition of Barcelona and the German National Music Competition and has since developed an extensive international career. He appeared  as a soloist with major symphony and chamber orchestras, and participated in prestigious international festivals. He gave concerts and masterclasses in Europe as well as in Asia, North and South America, Africa and New Zealand. 

Since 1995 Stephan Picard has served as professor at the „Hanns Eisler“ School of Music in Berlin. His students got positions in major symphony orchestras like the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and won prices in many international competitions like the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium in Brussels, the Geneva International Music Competition.
