Nathan Dondalski was born on 1980 in Olsztyn, Poland. He originates from a family of rich musical traditions. He started learning to play violin at the age of 7, supervised by his father – Jan Dondalski. He continued his education at Frederic Chopin State Music School in Olsztyn, in the class of Professor Antoni Hoffman, from where he graduated with distinguishment in 1994. In 1999 he graduated, also as a distinguished student of Professor Mirosław Ławrynowicz, from Zenon Brzewski Music College in Warsaw. In the year 2000 he received a scholarship from Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, where he visited a fomous Russian violinist, Professor Grigori Zhislin. Nathan continued his education at the
Frederic Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw in the class of Professor Mirosław Ławrynowicz, and at R. Schumann Hochschule für Music in Düsseldorf in the class of Professor Rosa Fain.
He also is a laureate of several important violin contests:
1994 - Baltic Violin Competition in Gdańsk – 1st award
1994 - L. Janacek International Violin Competition in Prague - 3rd award
1995 - L. Spohr International Violin Competition in Weimar - 1st award
1997 - L. Spohr International Violin Competition in Freiburg – 2nd award
1997 - All Polish Music Competition in Warsaw – 1st award
and has participated in numerous violin master classes of such prominent musicians as
W. Wiłkomirska, M. Yashvili, W. Marschner, P. Amoyal.
In the course of his performance career Nathan has given concerts in France, Germany,
Russia, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Austria, Finland, Norway,
Switzerland, United Kingdom and Japan. He continuously cooperates with most of Polish Philharmonics. He has performed together with such renowned Philharmonic Orchestras as Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, „Vratislavia”Symphonic Orchestra, Slovakische Sinfonietta, the National Orchestra of polish Radio in Katowice, Symphony Orchestra in Weimar, National L. Spohr Philharmonic in Freiburg, SWR Rundfunkorchesters Kaiserslautern National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova Republic, conducted by A. Straszyński, T. Bugaj, S. Heled, M. Suehiro, T. Wojciechowski, J, Swoboda, M. Margolis, O, Balan, W. Marschner, P. Falk, L. Svarovsky, M. Pijarowski, J. Salwarowski, Z. Rychert, P. Vronsky and A. Wit.
He has taken part in many national and international festivals, e.g. in Tarnów, Bydgoszcz,
Katowice, „Huberman Festival” in Częstochowa, Helsinki, Kuhmo, Stockholm, Uppsala,
Kalmar, Paris, Prague, Berlin, Saporro and Tokio, performing in numerous concert halls of prestige, such as Cristal Saal in Obohiro, Cecilia Concert Hall in Oskarsham, Grunesal in Kalmar, National Philharmonic in Warsaw, W. Lutoslawski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, Kunst Hall in Lund, Berliner Theater, National Philharmonic in Sofia, White Hall in Helsinki, Meistersinger Halle in Nürnberg and Kolner Philharmonic.
Nathan Dondalski has won the „Golden Tenth” award of „Olsztyńska Newspaper” „Warmia and Mazury Atut”Award, and has recived the Stipend of the Ministry of Culture
and National Heritage for distinguished cultural achievements.
In 1999 a CD record with the works of Sarasate, Wieniawski and Szymanowski played by
Nathan has been published. He also made many archive recordings not only for Polish Radio and Television but also for the Czech, Moldavian, German, French and Finnish Televisions.
Since 2004 he has been performing the function of the First Concertmaster in the Concert Hall in Koszalin and in the Warmian-Masurian Concert Hall in Olsztyn. He works as a teacher at Grażyna Bacewicz State Music School Complex in Koszalin and Academy of Arts in Szczecin. His pupils are often awarded prizes in national and international music competitions.
In 2016 he received a Special Reward of the Culture and Art Ministry and a medal for services to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. He was awarded a prize of Director of the Polish Center of Art Education for his particular contribution to the development of scholarship in Poland.
Since 2017 he has been a lecturer at Zenon Brzewski International Music Courses in Łańcut. From Fall Semester of 2025, he will teach as a professor for violin at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.
