Igor Petrushevski

Igor Petrushevski is one of the most successful violin teachers in Europe. 
His students are winners of many international violin competitions including Tibor Varga, Tchaikovsky, Indianapolis, Long-Thibaud, Paganini, Lipizer, Tokyo, Wieniawski, Heifetz, Joachim, Sion, Britten, Canetti, Enescu, Valsesia, and Khachaturian. 
Prof. Petrushevski’s students have performed with Maxim Vengerov, Christian Jarvi, Krzysztof Penderecki, Schlomo Mintz, Vladimir Jurowski, Giancarlo Guerrero and with orchestras such as: the Royal Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Hamburg Philharmonic, the Vilnius State Philharmonic, the Transylvania State Philharmonic, the George Enescu Philharmonic, the Slovac Radio, the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra, the Youth State Orchestra of Armenia.

Some of his students are leading important orchestras in the USA, the UK, Russia and are playing in orchestras such as the Wiener Philharmoniker, Covent Garden Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, etc. Many of Igor Petrushevski’s students also have prominent solo international careers and are holding teaching posts in major universities throughout the world.

Prof. Petrushevski has made numerous television and radio performances. 

Over the last 20 years, Igor Petrushevski has given violin master classes and played in the major concert halls of UK, Italy, Austria, France, all the former Yugoslavia, Russia, North and South America, Korea and China.

Igor Petrushevski is a professor for violin at the Richard Wagner Konservatorium in Vienna, Austria and a honorary professor at the Yerevan State Conservatory in Armenia. 

He started his violin teaching career at the Trinity College of Music after which Prof. Petrushevski worked at the Royal Academy of Music in London. 
He was the artistic director of the ‘Strings In London International Music Festival. 

Prof. Petrushevski has been a jury member of international competitions including the London Oratory International Violin Competition, the George Enescu International Violin Competition, the Aram Khachaturian International Violin Competition, the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, and the Osaka International Music Competition. 

In the next two years Prof. Petrushevski will be a jury member in 5 international competitions :
Vienna Classic Strings Competition (May 2019, €20,000 first prize)

Aram Khachaturian International Competition ($15,000 first prize)

The 2020 Enescu Competition 

The Osaka International Music Competition 

International Jeunesses Musicales Competition Belgrade

Igor Petrushevski studied at the Moscow Conservatory with the legendary teacher Maya Glezarova. He continued his studies with Prof. Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

He played on A. Stradivari of 1699 for many years following Milan period j.B. Guadagnini and currently plays on L. Storioni.
